How It Works

iKofi connects South African creators with supporters. Here's how each role works.

For Creators

1. Register

Go to ikofi.co.za and click Join as Creator. Fill in your name, email, and password.

2. Set Up Your Page

• Handle — This becomes your page URL: ikofi.co.za/@yourhandle
• Category — Art, music, writing, vlogging, or other
• Bio — Tell people who you are (up to 1,200 characters)
• Intro — Short tagline that appears on your hero section (up to 300 characters)
• What I Do — Detailed description of your work
• Avatar — Your profile photo (square, min 300×300px)
• Social links — Up to 5 links (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, X, WhatsApp, website)
• Location — City or area
• Website — Your personal or portfolio site

3. Upload Your Gallery

Add up to 5 images of your work. Images are automatically resized to fit. Add captions to each image.

4. Set Up Payments

iKofi uses Paystack for secure payments. When a supporter tips you:

• Paystack creates a subaccount linked to your bank account
• 95% of the tip goes directly to your South African bank account
• 5% stays with iKofi as the platform fee
• Settlement happens through Paystack's normal schedule

5. Share Your Page

• Share your page URL: ikofi.co.za/@yourhandle
• Download your Marketing Pack (QR codes, PDFs, social media templates)
• Print QR codes and put them on posters, business cards, or packaging

6. Get Tips

Supporters visit your page, pick a coffee tier or enter their own amount, and pay via Paystack. You receive the money in your bank account.

For Supporters

1. Find a Creator

Browse the creator directory or visit a creator's page directly via their URL or QR code.

2. Pick a Coffee

Choose from preset tiers or enter your own amount:

Minimum tip: R5.

3. Pay

Click Continue to Payment. You'll be redirected to Paystack's secure checkout.

• No account required — Pay as a guest
• Payment methods — Card or bank transfer
• Currency — South African rands only

4. Done

Your payment is processed instantly. The creator receives 95% of your tip directly in their bank account.

Optional: Create a Free Account

Track your tips, see who you've supported, and build a public profile. Completely optional — tipping works without an account.

For Advertisers

1. Get an Account

Advertiser accounts are created by iKofi admin. Some accounts are gifted (free for a limited time).

2. Set Up Your Business Page

• Business name — Your company or brand name
• Handle — Your page URL: ikofi.co.za/ad/yourhandle
• Category — Food & Beverage, Arts & Culture, Sports & Recreation, etc.
• Location — Physical address or area
• Contact — Phone, email, website
• Opening hours — When you're open
• About — Tell people about your business (up to 1,200 characters)
• Social links — Up to 5 links
• Gallery — Up to 5 images of your business, products, or events

3. Add Events

Create events and promotions. They appear on your public page with dates, venues, and details.

4. Get Found

Your business page is indexed by search engines. Share the URL, add it to your marketing materials, or use the QR codes from your Marketing Pack.

How Payments Work

1. Supporter pays → Paystack processes the payment
2. Money splits → 95% to creator, 5% to iKofi
3. Creator receives → Money lands in creator's linked bank account

No forex. No currency conversion. Everything stays in South African rands.
